    Juandalyn Peters, M.D. received her undergraduate degree from Barry University in Miami, Florida. She then received her medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, from which she graduated with “Research Distinction” for her work on the effects of child sexual abuse. She also received the Herman Selinsky Award, recognizing her as the “Best in Psychiatry”. Dr. Peters went on to receive her General Psychiatry specialty training at one of the most prestigious national psychiatry departments: Duke University Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. Thereafter, she returned to the University of Miami Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to complete a two-year fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Dr. Peters is board-certified in general (adult) psychiatry as well as child and adolescent psychiatry. She is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, the Ame.

    Dr. Peters has a special interest in the treatment of trauma in children and adults, including trauma from abuse/domestic violence, accidents, and death of a loved one. She is also skilled in the diagnosis and treatment of mood problems (depression, Bipolar Disorder), anxiety disorders and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder. Dr. Peters often uses medications to treat children and adults, but also uses talk therapy (cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic psychotherapy) to help patients identify the sources of their difficulties, and work collaboratively to restore them to an optimum level of functioning.
